  • 1809 The Floating Harbour opened with two entrance locks: North Entrance Lock 45ft wide and the South Entrance Lock 35ft wide
  • 1849 Brunel’s work to enlarge the South Entry Lock was completed
  • 1873 The Howard Entrance Lock was completed, Jessop North Entrance Lock was blocked and Brunel Swing Bridge moved to the New Lock.
  • The replica swing Bridge was installed over Brunel Lock.
  • 1904 The OS map Somerset VI.2 Revised: 1901 to 1902, Published: 1904 shows a capstan in this location.
